Hiwot

PLACEHOLDER STORY. She reported what happened to her three times before anyone wrote it down.

This is placeholder text; replace it with a real, consented story told in her own words wherever possible.

Hiwot was twenty-two the first time she walked into a police station to report what had happened to her. She was sent home. She went back twice. The third time, a young officer wrote her words down, and that piece of paper became the beginning of her case.

Her portrait on this page is the Tisema mark itself, because she asked not to be photographed. That is her right, and the movement’s promise.
